We welcome all men to participate in the individual joust. Any who wish to compete, please give your
name;
title,
rank, or birth;
gender;
for whom you fight;
and skill.
We shall do our utmost to match you with your peers, so all might have the chance for fair participation. Worry not; those determining matches cannot compete themselves, and are safe from bribery through anonymity.
The jousts themselves shall be individual tilts: one against one, with the intent of unhorsing one's honourable opponent. As this is a competition amongst friends, for mutual and shared glory, the lances are crowned. Any jouster who strikes his opponent or the man's horse shall face disqualification - we aim for good sport, not the death of our fellows. A hit upon the shield shall be awarded points (1-3 based on the centrality and strength of the blow), and unseating one's 'foe' is a win. The winners of every match move forward in the competition, to be repaired and tilt again, after sufficient time to rest. Those who don't make it through shall be gladly and warmly greeted by those of us in the stands for their valiant efforts, and better enjoy the fruits of the festival through the ease of spectatorship.
The four finalists shall each receive a coinpurse in reward for their great skill, as well, of course, as the honour they do themselves, their patrons, and their nations. The last man standing wins not only gold, and righteous pride, but also a wreath of red roses, to crown the Lady of his choice our Queen of Love and Beauty for the remainder of our celebrations.
Should any of our Lady guests desire to compete in the joust, the winner amongst themselves shall be awarded, in addition to her coinpurse, a crown of orange roses, and be our Queen of Heart and Hearth.
