As honourable, but more accessible, than the Joust, the melee is a proven -and popular- sport. To best accommodate the myriad competitors, we ask that any who wish to participate leave their...
name;
title,
rank, or birth;
gender;
for whom they fight;
and skill.
This way we might endeavour to see all meet their match in combat, as best we may, to allow for a broader and more just playing field.
All equipment must be inspected ere entering a match, for everyone's safety. We wish for a friendly competition between peers, for the sport and glory of all, and wish no harm to any here; for that reason we must insist upon tourney-dull weaponry and certify all as such for every participant's peace of mind (or, more honestly, perhaps, given the great warriors assembled here: the peace of mind of their companions back in the stands!).
Typically, a match will be over when one party yields, but in the unlikely event that this does not happen, any one unable to continue a match forfeits it. The winner of any match will move forward in the competition, and be matched again to his next opponent once both are rested.
If the participants agree to a draw, they will both be rematched with a new opponent, as the tourney continues.
The final four combatants shall be awarded a coinpurse, in celebration of their prowess and the honour they do their nations and patrons, and the true winner shall receive in addition a wreath of pink roses, to crown the Lady of his choice the Queen of Joy and Spirit.
The winner amongst our Lady competitors, shall receive her own crown, of yellow roses, and be our Queen of Courage and Compassion.
